ACJL Success Story
The Defendant was 34-year-old and work as an apprentice in a workshop before his arrest and subsequent incarceration in the Custodial Centre. He was alleged to have committed the offences of conspiracy, stealing and Unlawful possession of fire arm. He pleaded not guilty to all three counts charge. It is worthy to note that from the date of arraignment till the 22nd March 2022, there was no progress in the case. The prosecution failed to produce any witness nor comply with the provisions of ACJL on frontloading documents. Following this development, the court was minded to strike out the charge for want of diligent prosecution and discharge the defendant. The court did strike out the charge and discharged the defendant.
The defendant was really happy and thanked CAPIO for their Legal intervention.
