CAPIO Conducts Medical Outreach in Enugu Custodial Center

Before COVID 19 restrictions, CAPIO visits monthly the female wing of Enugu Custodial Center with sanitary items. CAPIO on the 9th of March had her first 2021 visit to the female wing of the Enugu Custodial center and was joyfully received. The Project Director, Rev. Fr. Ambrose Ekeroku OCD used the opportunity to introduce the CAPIO Executive Director Rev. Fr. Jude Isiguzo OCD to female inmates and staff of the Enugu Custodial center. In expressing their appreciation, the beneficiaries inquired when CAPIO will commence Sunday mass which was disrupted by necessary COVID-19 protocol.
Given that no medical outreach held in 2020 due to the lockdown and safety measures, as well as, the gap in medical personnel in the Enugu Custodial center, of which CAPIO was approached to support the center, CAPIO conducted a medical outreach on Saturday 27th March 2021. In attendance were four (4) Doctors, two (2) Nurses, a Medical Lab. Scientist, two (2) Pharmacists, a Medical record assistant, and six (6) CAPIO staff. This outreach attended to 111 inmates who accessed a bouquet of services, 22 persons were prescribed and given eyeglasses.
CAPIO remains committed to meeting the basic needs of inmates across Commands of Nigeria Correctional Service and utilizes this medium to call on the general public to support improving the welfare of inmates in Nigeria.
