CAPIO Receives Project Monitoring Team from Rome

CAPIO Nigeria in the month of February was honored with the presence of project monitoring team from Rome: Fr. Daniel Ehigie, OCD, The Definitor for Africa/Superior of Carmelites in Africa and Fr. Jerome Paluku, OCD, General Secretary for the Missionary Corporation Office. They were well received by Fr. Philip Kusimo, OCD (Vicariate secretary, Discalced Carmelites, Nigeria), CAPIO Executive Director, and Project Director Fr. Jude Isiguzo and Fr. Ambrose Ekereoku, OCD respectively.
Fr. Jerome Paluku assisted CAPIO in reviewing the CEI report after which the above-mentioned Carmelite Priests visited the Centre of Hope to assess the level of work progression at the Centre. The Center of Hope is funded by 8xmille.it through CHIESA CATTOLLICA Conferenza Episcopale Italiana (C.E.I.).
CAPIO Nigeria appreciates 8xmille.it the Carmelite Order Curia Generalizia Carmelitani Scalzi, Misean Cara and others who have contributed to the success of the Centre.
The following are completed structures:
- Poultry House- Broiler
- Brooding house (chicks) and egg store
- Farm Office
- Poultry House- Layers
- Abattoir
- Piggery
- Farm Store
- Staff Quarters
- 40,000 capacity stanchion tank.
It should also be noted that the second year (phase two) construction work at the Centre has commenced with the construction of Female hostel and Administrative block by Linegaard Engineering Limited. It is anticipated that this phase will be completed within the next six months.
