Completion of Phase 2 Centre of Hope Project

Building on recorded success in the CAPIO Centre of Hope Project as reported in our Q4 2021 newsletter (https://bit.ly/3fetLKu), the Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) is pleased to announce the completion and handover of the Administrative block and female hostel.
CAPIO team led by her Executive Director Rev. Fr. Jude Isiguzo OCD, on Friday 28th January 2022 inspected the Administrative block and female hostel constructed by Linegard Engineering Limited.
The female hostel has 25 rooms, laundry, and other rooms, while the administrative block houses the library, offices and other rooms. Gradually the Centre is taking shape and will institutionalize the rehabilitation of ex-inmates in Nigeria.
CAPIO Receives Carmelite Major Superiors
On the 9th of February 2022, the Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) received Carmelite Major Superiors in Africa and Rev. Fr. Jerome Paluku, who visited CAPIO Centre of Hope in Oji River. The Superiors toured the Centre to inspect the work already completed which included – Administrative blocks, female hostel, staff quarters, farm office, poultry house, brooding and egg store, fish pond, piggery, cold-room, farm store, and artisan borehole. Also inspected was 10KVA solar installation powered by Misean Cara. The Carmelite Superiors were impressed with the vision and extent of work done at the CAPIO Centre of Hope.
The management and staff of CAPIO wish to once more appreciate CEI – Conferenza Episcopale Italiana 8xmille.it and Misean Cara for funding the Centre of Hope Project.
Centre of Hope Poultry Farm: APPEALS Project
The Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) is proud to inform the public of the operationalization of the poultry section of the animal farm. This project is funded by the World Bank, Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement, and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS Project), Enugu.
Through SUNCHI Farm which is a vendor for APPEALS Project, 3,100 broilers, were delivered to farm after installing automatic drinkers. Feeds, barrow, shovel and necessary items included in the business plan were equally delivered. Table size chicken will be available in the Centre in no time. Broilers will be restocked and other sections of the farm will soon be functional.
