Updates

In furtherance of CAPIO’s commitment towards improved health and well-being of inmates, CAPIO in collaboration with an indigenous NGO and Mobile clinic CDS group of the NYSC, conducted a medical outreach in Enugu Maximum Custodial Centre on Saturday 18th February 2023. This is one of the many other medical outreaches which CAPIO has conducted in the different Custodial Centres in the state. The Enugu Custodial Centre in particular houses 2,339 inmates, and over 20% are consulted and those with identified ailments treated in each of these visits.

On the 18th of February, 2023, the medical team attended to 4 Correctional Officers and 118 inmates, making a total of 122 persons who received medical attention, across bouquet of healthcare packages, with adequate drugs dispensed to address identified health challenges. Subsequent medical outreached will be targeted at reaching more inmates. The management and Staff of CAPIO Nigeria, appreciate partners and volunteers who sacrifice their time and resources, as well as, Missionary Sisters of St. Claver who contributed financially towards the success of the outreach. CAPIO also uses this medium to call on CSOs and the general public to give more attention to the healthcare and wellbeing of inmates in Nigeria.
