The Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) in partnership with Independent Charity Organization and NYSC Mobile Clinic CDS group on Saturday 22nd October 2022, conducted a medical outreach in Nsukka Custodial Centre. The Nsukka Medium Custodial Centre has a capacity of 298 housed 276 inmates at the time of our visit, and CAPIO medical outreach attended to 37% of the population who needed medical attention, 4 Custodial Officers and 101 Inmates received medical care services which included vital signs check (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight) and general body checks, consultation, optical care, ear wax cleaning and drug administration

Building on the success of Nsukka Medial Outreach, and the need for more in Enugu Maximum Custodial Centre to complement previous outreaches in Oji River and Enugu Custodial Centres, CAPIO On Saturday 5th November 2022 conducted a medical outreach in Enugu Custodial Centre in partnership with Rotary Club of Ekulu,

Enugu Mobile Clinic #CDS Group, and an Independent Charity Organization, attended to over 250 inmates (Females and Male inmates) who received several medical services.

Following calls from the clinic in Enugu Custodial Centre, on the 9th December 2022 CAPIO Nigeria and Ahuike Health Foundation conducted an eye-care outreach which attended to 9 inmates who received several eyecare services and the referral for an elderly inmate who needs to be operated on as a result of cataract which has made him unable to move around and cater for daily activities without being aided.

The Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO) appreciates all partners who supported medical outreaches towards improved well- being of inmates through donations and medical volunteers, God bless you richly.
